Travelogue

We spent last week skiting round West Cork. This time we did not manage to get to Castletownshend, associated with two adventurous ladies, Somerville and Ross. Apart from the well loved stories concerning the Irish R.M. they were highly regarded travel writers and their book about Connemara is well worth reading.

Cork, the largest county in Ireland, is a writer's paradise. On the pier in Castletownbere I was reprimanded by the only curmudgeon we met in five days.

"Fishermen don't like having their photo taken", I was told.

It could be the opening of a short story...

I agree. A good opening line.

In fact, the story of my life could be written in one-liners.
