Whisperinggums.wordpress has many posts on the subject of Eucalypts and literature. "The gum tree in the Australian imagination" refers to Ethel Turner, Rex Ingamells and Peter Temple. Most extraordinary of all, "Eucalyptus" by Murray Bayle explores the growth habits of many gum trees in a novel that reads like a modern day "Decameron".
