No way of knowing anything more, but since I am reading "Colomba" by Prosper Mérimée. I'm rather pleased to have some virtual contact, however tenuous with that glorious city, so I shall be on the lookout for more visits.
Mérimée was a Parisien to his fingertips and his very erudite mind wove fantastical tales of derring-do in wild places around France.
His novella "Carmen" is probably one of the most well known tragic tales of all time.
